Switched power suplies MEAN WELL with constant voltage and constant current. MEAN WELL's power supplies can be controlled via PWM, 0 (1) -10V, resistive, DALI, or SMART and can be programmed. Info for each series. Datasheets and certificates for each type are can be seen at MEANWELL.com.

Choosing a resource is very important. For long-term operation, it is necessary to select a stabilized power supply with DC or AC voltage of 12V or 24V with a maximum tolerance of ± 1% and a sufficiently high output power and in a suitable design.

In general, we maintain a 20% power reserve above the installed power of the LED system. Switched power supplies with suitable parameters are recommended - with the required output voltage and current. Resource location always follows the manufacturer's rules, it is necessary to select sources with the correct type of IP protection for both outdoor and indoor applications. For each source, it is necessary to provide sufficient cooling and, when installing multiple sources, keep the minimum spacing between the sources. Multiple sources can not usually be plugged into one circuit, for which special sources are determined.

When installing power supplies in advertising panels and other systems, sufficient ventilation must be provided to avoid excessive overheating. Heat accumulation in small areas, from solar radiation or resource overload can very quickly destroy the whole system.

The power output calculation depends on the type of LED strip or LED module, for each type of LED strip the power / meter is given. After selecting the length of your LED strip, you simply multiply the input × the length of the LED strip x coefficient 1,2. Example: If you buy 3 meters of tape with a power consumption of 7.2W / meter, the power of 3 meters is 21.6W, including a safety factor of 1.2 then 25.92W. Voltage pulse power suplies are designed to power all LED modules in voltage mode, including LED strips and similar components. They come in an IP68 version in an AL or a plastic case, as well as a plug-in design reminiscent of a mobile phone charger, etc. These sources supply a constant voltage to the electrical circuit. When the source is overloaded, the secondary circuit turns off their electronic protection.

 

OUR TIP: We recommend using fusible fuses on the secondary side of sources.
