Constant-current power supplies are used for LED modules, LED strips, and LED lighting systems. These supplies deliver a constant current regardless of the voltage required to achieve it.
In practice, these supplies are used for specialized LED applications, such as illuminated signage or high-efficiency LED strips. The LEDs are connected in a series chain, ensuring that the same nominal current flows through all of them. The number of LEDs in the chain must be selected so that the sum of their forward voltages at the given current falls within the power supply's regulation range.
