FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
How do silicone neon profiles differ from ready-made LED neons?
A silicone neon profile is an empty, highly durable silicone tube (tunnel) with a diffusion housing into which you insert a standard LED strip yourself (typically 8 mm or 10 mm wide). Unlike ready-potted neons, this gives you complete freedom of choice – you pick the exact type, luminosity, or color of the LED strip according to your current needs.
What LED strips fit into these silicone profiles?
When choosing a strip, its width and flexibility are key. Most of our silicone profiles are designed for standard single-color or RGB LED strips with a width of 8 mm or 10 mm. We recommend choosing strips with a higher chip density (e.g., 120 or 160 diodes per meter) so that the light forms a completely solid and smooth line inside the profile without visible "dots."
How do you correctly pull an LED strip into a silicone profile?
To easily pull an LED strip through a long profile, a thin guide wire (or nylon cord) is most commonly used – you attach the strip to it with a piece of tape and carefully pull it through. We also recommend using a drop of isopropyl alcohol or silicone spray as lubrication so the strip slides smoothly and doesn't get stuck inside.
Are silicone profiles also suitable for outdoor use?
Definitely. The premium silicone from which these profiles are made is extremely resistant to UV radiation (it doesn't yellow or crack in the sun), withstands severe frosts and high temperatures, and features a high ingress protection rating (up to IP67). Combined with waterproof end caps and quality silicone adhesive, you get a fully outdoor-rated lighting element with an exceptionally long lifespan.
