FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What actually is lightweight PVC and why is it called Forex?
Foamed PVC sheets have a fine cellular structure that makes them lightweight yet surprisingly rigid. In the industry, the names Forex board or PVC Forex have become standard. If you are looking for the most affordable plastic sheets for producing information boards, backdrops, or decorations, lightweight PVC hits the bullseye.

What thickness should I choose – is 3 mm Forex enough, or do I need more?
It depends on what you plan to do with the material. For smaller nameplates and model making, 2 mm plastic sheets or even ultra-thin 1 mm Forex are ideal. An absolute bestseller is the 3 mm plastic sheet (frequently searched in e-shops as 3 mm PVC sheets), which is rigid enough for printing while remaining easy to handle. However, if you need greater stability, opt for 5 mm Forex or massive 10 mm Forex.

Can this material be printed on directly, and what does the result look like?
Definitely! The "print Forex" variant is custom-made for digital UV printing. Lightweight 3 mm PVC sheets feature a beautifully white and smooth surface where colors adhere exceptionally well and look vibrant. This is often a much faster and cheaper solution than laboriously applying vinyl film to an aluminum composite panel when you need an effective result at a great price.

How does a PVC sheet behave outdoors, and how does the weather affect it?
Lightweight foamed PVC sheets are non-absorbent, meaning neither rain nor moisture will harm them. It is simply a durable PVC sheet that will not rot or swell outdoors. Just watch out for direct summer sun – plastics naturally expand with heat, so when installing larger formats, leave a small allowance in the mountings for thermal expansion to prevent the sheet from warping.
