How do I choose the right charger for a battery?
The key factor is the battery type (lead-acid, gel, Li-ion, LiFePO4, Ni-MH), its voltage, and capacity in Ah. The charger must match both the chemistry and voltage of the battery, otherwise, it can damage it. We are happy to help you with the selection.
What does charging current mean and what value should I choose?
The charging current (A) determines how fast the battery charges – roughly speaking, it is usually around one-tenth of the capacity in Ah. Higher current charges faster, while lower current is gentler on battery lifespan. We will advise you based on your specific battery.
Do chargers also feature maintenance charging?
Many microprocessor-controlled chargers offer a maintenance charging mode, which is ideal for batteries stored during the off-season. It protects the accumulator from both over-discharging and overcharging. We have such models in our assortment.
