FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Is 5 mm plexiglass suitable for outdoor infills or railings?
Definitely, at this thickness, the material can handle moderate pressure and wind impacts without deformation. Thanks to its UV resistance, it won't become brittle outdoors even after years, so you can fully rely on it in exterior applications.
What about drilling into such a thick sheet, will it crack?
Plexiglass with a thickness of 5 mm is very easy to drill, but you need to use sharp drill bits designed for plastics or metals and avoid applying too much force. We recommend placing a solid backing board underneath and drilling at higher speeds to ensure the hole is clean and burr-free.
How much can this sheet withstand compared to standard glass?
Incredibly, plexiglass is roughly ten times more impact-resistant than standard glass of the same thickness. At the same time, it weighs only half as much, which significantly simplifies handling during installation and reduces the load-bearing requirements on the structure itself.
How can I make the cut edges look professional?
The easiest way is to have the sheets custom-cut directly by us, ensuring a clean and precise cut. However, if you want to polish the edges to a high gloss, you can use fine waterproof sandpaper followed by a special acrylic polishing compound.
